1. DATA ACCESS
In Tally ERP9, We can retrieve the data by giving the folder path.
In Tally Prime, We can specify the folder path. Or Here, is a new feature available i.e. “select from drive” . Using this feature, we can route the Tally Data folder path.
2. COMPANY INFO
In the older Tally ERP9 version, the shortcut key for company info is ALT + F3. And company info menu contains the features of Create Company, Alter Company, Select Company, Shut Company, Group Company, Back up and Restore etc.
In the newest Tally Prime , the shortcut key for company info is ALT + K. And Company info menu is renamed as Company. In this company menu, it contained the features “Create “, “Alter”, “Change”, “Select”, and “Shut”. These features are about company. “Create” option is for to create company. “Alter” is to modify or delete company and Change feature is to change the current company. Select and Shut features are about to select and shut company from the list.
ALT + K, Company menu also contains online access features like browser access, remote access etc.
Configure features are also listed in ALT + K, company menu.
3. COMPANY DATA:
The Company Data features , Backup, Restore and Split Company Data are available in Company info menu (ALT + F3) in Tally ERP 9. Where as, in Tally Prime these company data features are listed separately in DATA menu. The shortcut key for Data Menu is ALT + Y.
4. COPY & PASTE:
The shortcut keys for copy and paste are Ctrl + Alt + C and Ctrl + Alt + V in the Tally ERP9 version. In, Tally Prime version its CTRL + C and CTRL + V to copy and paste. We can use even ctrl + shift + c and ctrl + shift + V keys also.
5. VOUCHER MODE / CHANGE MODE:
In tally ERP 9 version, CTRL + V is the key to switch between voucher mode and invoice mode in purchase and sales vouchers. And the key to switch between item invoice and accounts invoice is ALT + I.
In Tally Prime version, the all change mode options are listed in single shortcut key CTRL + H.
The change mode CTRL + H includes voucher mode , item invoice, and accounts invoice for purchase & sales vouchers. And Single entry , double features are listed in Contra, Payment and Receipt vouchers.
6. LOADING COMPANY BY DEFAULT:
In Tally ERP 9 version, To load company automatically, press F12 for configuration, then select Data Configuration, then change the default company here.
In Tally Prime version, for that, press F1 for help, then select “settings” option, then select the feature “START UP”, then change the default company at “Load companies” on “Start Up”
7. REPORTS:
In the earlier versions of Tally, no direct shortcut key to access any report i.e. accounting, inventory and taxation etc. We should go through the path Gateway of Tally > Reports > Display .
In the Display screen, all Accounting, inventory, taxation reports are categorized.
But, in the latest version of Tally Prime, new feature “GO TO” is introduced. User can go to any report with this new “Go to” feature”. The shortcut key for Go to feature is CTRL + G
8. DAY BOOK:
Day Book is one of the main reports of entire tally reports. Transactions, what we entered will be available in Day Book report. We have to go through Gateway of Tally > Display to view the Day Book report in Tally ERP 9 Version
But, in Tally Prime version , that main important day book report is placed in Transactions section, below vouchers at Gateway of Tally Screen.
9. CREATING MASTERS
In the Tally ERP 9 version, for example, to create ledgers, the path is Gateway of Tally > Masters > Accounts info > Ledger > Create.
And to create inventory masters like items, godowns etc.. the path is Gateway of Tally > Masters > Inventory info > Select Stock Items / Godowns > Create
But, in the Tally Prime, creating any masters is very simple. The path is Gateway of Tally > Create. Here all Accounting, inventory and taxation masters are directly available.
10.ALTERING MASTERS
In the Tally erp 9 version, for example to alter the any accounting / inventory / other masters , Go to Gateway of Tally > Masters > Accounting info > Select “Ledgers / Groups” > Alter.
Whereas in the Tally Prime, Altering any masters is so simple. For that, Gateway of Tally > Alter > Select the Master type , then press enter
